Spotify has entered the fitness category, introducing guided workout experiences within its platform. The expansion brings structured exercise content into the same ecosystem where users already access music, podcasts, audiobooks, and video.
Starting April 27, both free and Premium users will have access to dozens of curated fitness playlists alongside content from wellness creators including Yoga with Kassandra, Caitlin K’eli Yoga, Sweaty Studio, Chloe Ting Home Workouts, Pilates Body by Raven, Abi Mills Wellness, and Sophiereidfit.
Through a new partnership with Peloton, Premium users in supported markets will gain access to more than 1,400 ad free, on demand classes as part of their existing subscription.
The catalog includes outdoor runs and structured mat based options across strength, cardio, yoga, and meditation. Classes feature instructors including Rebecca Kennedy, Ally Love, and Rad Lopez, with no specialized equipment required.
The expansion builds on existing user behavior. More than 150 million fitness playlists are active globally on the platform. Approximately 70 percent of Premium users work out monthly, according to Spotify.
Fitness and workout content ranks among the top use cases for the company’s recently launched Prompted Playlist feature.
Roman Wasenmüller, Vice President and Global Head of Podcasts at Spotify, addressed the strategic shift. “For nearly two decades, Spotify has been the soundtrack to the world’s workouts.
But listening was only the beginning. Today, we are expanding Spotify to become a true daily wellness companion. By bringing thousands of creators and partners like Peloton directly into our video and audio ecosystem, we are investing in a future where Spotify isn’t just where you spend your time, it’s where you go to build momentum, improve your wellbeing, and get more out of every day.”
Premium users in supported markets can access Peloton content by opening the Spotify app on mobile, desktop, or television devices, searching for fitness to open the Fitness hub, or finding it under Browse all.
From there, users can explore classes and curated playlists. Workouts are available primarily in English, with select options in Spanish and German. Users can download classes for offline access.
The fitness offering is designed to work across devices. Users can start a video workout on a television, switch to audio on a phone for a run, and wind down with guided recovery on a smart speaker. The experience remains consistent across devices without requiring app switching.
Spotify framed the move as part of a broader effort to make time on the platform feel meaningful and intentional.
The company stated it is opening the door to a wider range of fitness and wellness experiences designed to be flexible and easy to integrate into daily routines.
The expansion represents a category extension beyond audio and video entertainment into health and wellness, positioning Spotify as a daily tool for movement rather than a passive listening service.
