Audiomack has launched Night Plan, a new feature designed to give music fans in selected African markets a more affordable and flexible way to download music by taking advantage of overnight mobile data pricing.
The feature is available to Audiomack Plus subscribers and allows users to add music to a download queue during the day, with downloads scheduled to take place during supported late-night hours.
The approach is designed for markets where mobile carriers offer data at lower prices during overnight periods.
Mobile data remains an important part of how listeners across Africa access streaming services. For users who rely on mobile networks rather than fixed broadband connections, the cost of data can influence when and how they stream or download music.
Night Plan is designed to work within that existing behavior by moving data-intensive downloads to periods when participating carriers may offer more affordable data. The feature supports mobile networks including MTN, Airtel, Glo, and 9mobile, depending on market and availability.
Audiomack Plus subscribers can queue music for offline listening through the Night Plan feature. Once music has been added to the queue, the downloads are scheduled for the designated overnight period rather than being completed immediately.
A moon icon appears within the download queue to indicate that Night Plan is active. Audiomack also sends notifications to keep users informed about the status of the scheduled downloads.
The system is designed to account for situations where a device is not available at the expected time. If Audiomack wakes to begin downloading more than four hours after the scheduled window, the queued download is skipped and the system attempts the download again during the following night.

This allows users to prepare their music downloads in advance rather than needing to remain awake or manually start each download during the overnight period.
Built around mobile-first listening, the launch comes as streaming services continue to adapt their products to the different ways audiences access music across African markets.
Unlike markets where listeners may primarily rely on fixed broadband or large mobile data allowances, many African consumers access digital services through mobile networks.
Network availability, data pricing and carrier-specific offers can therefore influence how users consume digital content.
The platform has positioned Night Plan around those conditions, giving subscribers an option that works with overnight data pricing rather than requiring them to change the way they use the platform.
The feature also extends Audiomack’s existing focus on offline listening. Users can download music while data is available and listen to it later without requiring an active connection.
Audiomack said its audience in Africa has generated 109.3 billion plays and 16.3 billion offline downloads since 2020. The figures highlight the role of offline listening alongside on-demand streaming in the region.
The company has expanded its presence across African markets through a combination of its streaming platform, offline listening features and partnerships with mobile operators.
Audiomack has reached the top of app store charts in 11 African countries, spanning markets from Benin to Zimbabwe.
The platform has also entered partnerships with telecommunications companies to expand access to music streaming and connect its services with existing mobile ecosystems.
Those partnerships include MTN Nigeria, one of the continent’s largest mobile subscriber networks, as well as Africell Gambia and Orange Liberia.
The partnerships form part of a broader strategy in which music platforms and telecommunications companies work together to make digital music services more accessible to mobile users.
Different markets, different listening conditionsAudiomack’s Night Plan launch also reflects the differences between African music markets.Mobile operators can offer different data packages, pricing structures and promotional offers depending on the country.
As a result, a feature designed around mobile data usage may need to account for local carrier conditions rather than operate identically across every market.Night Plan is therefore being made available through supported carriers and markets rather than as a universal feature for all Audiomack users.
David Ponte, co-founder and CMO at Audiomack, said the product was developed around the way listeners and mobile operators already use data.“Night Plan was designed around how African fans access music and how regional mobile carriers sell data,” Ponte said. “It reflects the reality that music access works differently from market to market. Streaming services need to embrace these differences and support fans, not try to change them.
We believe music lovers deserve products built for the way they actually listen.”For Audiomack, the launch adds another layer to its existing offline listening offering while connecting the platform more closely with mobile data usage in African markets.
Night Plan is available to Audiomack Plus subscribers on supported carriers and in supported markets.
